I am that I am

Exodus 3:14 14And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

At first it was hard for me to understand what was meant by this statement, because this phrase does not really conform to our regular way of understanding, until we look a little closer.

In this passage God Himself is speaking to Moses in a very profound way, because He knows that this is what Moses and the children of Israel needed to hear in order to acknowledge His sovereign power.

But what about the rest of us? How does God speak to our hearts so that we can be certain that all our needs will be met? Maybe we don’t hear God speak as profoundly and as clearly as Moses did all the time. However, this does not minimize how great God is. It simply strengthens our faith when God says “I AM THAT I AM”.

This means that whatever we need He is “That”, if we need a friend- He is that friend that sticks closer than a brother, if we need healing- He is our healer, if we need comfort- He is our comforter, basically everything that we need can be found in Him.

For many of us, we tend to place our own limitations on God, we think this thing is too big so we don’t believe God will do it, or that thing is so small God doesn’t have time for such a small thing etc…Forgetting one major thing, and that is God is able to supply our every need.

All that is required is a closer walk with God, and He will lead us to that “place” where we too can have own on personal encounter with the True and living God. Dear friends, this is what we long for, so reach for it, press for it, search for it, whatever we need to do, let us do it today. Because a lot of times when God speaks to us, at first glance it may seem too profound for our minds to comprehend, but when we look closer, it’s really quite simple,

God says: I AM THAT I AM. I AM EVERYTHING YOU NEED.

Be Blessed!

Understanding Bible Truths – The God Verse – Who is God

A look at Exodus 3:14

There is a question asked in the Bible that is only asked one time and found in only one book. I call it the God verse. The reason I call it the God verse is because it is the only time in scripture that a man directly asks God the Father His name. He replies with an answer that it all-encompassing.

There is a dialog between God and Moses in Exodus. Moses has just heard God speaking to Him from a burning bush, so he is a little rattled to say the least. God is telling him to go to Egypt and he has no courage to do so. First he asks of God, “who am I”. Basically Moses is saying, I am nobody, I cannot do what you are asking. God tells him not to worry because He will be with him.

This is a great post by Darrell over at http://darrellcreswell.wordpress.com/. This is about God’s name, and who God is…very well written article with more to it then the title suggests. Give this a read, you won’t be sorry.
