A Quick Thought About Super Tuesday

Well, last night was the Super Tuesday primary elections. Many were dismayed with the fact that one candidate, Donald Trump, won 7 states. I was. I can’t stand Donald Trump.

But today, I was convicted. We are having a Day of Prayer here at Moody Bible Institute and I was thinking and praying for this nation. That’s when I realized something. Many of us (Christians) have complained extensively about Donald Trump. In some cases, that may be justified. Other times, we attack him unjustifiably. We like to complain, but how many of us have uttered a single prayer for Mr. Trump? Have we prayed for his salvation? Have we asked God to equip him for the office he’s running for? Most of us haven’t. Some will say they’ll just move. That’s said every election, and I find it quite annoying. Still, those are the kind of things we will say. Yet, we do not pray, nor do we do anything to change the trajectory of this nation.

We as Christians, including myself, have put hatred for Trump on an altar. I think it’s become an idol for many of us. We have elevated disdain over concern for Donald Trump’s soul. So this is a challenge for all followers of Jesus: Pray for Donald Trump. Don’t just complain aimlessly. Pray earnestly.

  1. I agree with you but as the saying goes, “It ain’t over til’ it’s over.” We need to be praying for all of them, not just Trump.

    • I completely agree. But the point is that Trump has been the target of pure hatred from some Christians. For instance, Glenn Beck asked for a day of fasting for Ted Cruz. That’s fine. Except I don’t think Beck would ever do that for Donald Trump. That’s wrong. We need to pray.

Luke 21:36 "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
