You’re Never Alone

and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:20 (NIV)

In the world, today there are many lonely people and there are many people that are alone.  Loneliness is feeling of sadness that some people have when they have no-one to spend time with, while alone is just that – being on your own.  Whether you are lonely or just alone, we all end up spending time contemplating how we got to be in this position.

Some people who are alone in the world are because they choose to be so.  There can be many reasons why they wish to face life on their own. No matter what the reasons may be they eventually they learn to forget or ignore their need for human companionship and accept it as their lot in life.  Being alone is something that they relish and very rarely do they feel the need to change.

Then there are others who accept that being alone is something that is out of their control – it just happens.  Reasons as to why they find themselves alone include relationships ending, moving to a new town or a major change in their life.  They feel that no-one wants to spend time with them out, so they just sit at home feeling lonely, wishing that someone else was there with them.  They don’t want to be by themselves but they conclude that there is nothing they can do about it.

No matter what the reason may be that you find yourself in the position of being on your own, you can go through the same feelings of loneliness that everybody else goes through at one time or another.  Even those in who not living on their own can feel lonely, the difference is that people who live by themselves know that they are alone.  There is nobody else sharing the home they live in or the lives they have.

Christians who live on their own can face loneliness as well, however, they have something that the others don’t have.  Sure enough, there may be times that you can feel lonely but you should always remember that you are never alone.  If you have accepted Jesus into your life you will always have Him with you.  There is no need to wish that somebody was there because He is already there waiting for you to acknowledge him.

Having Jesus in our lives means that we have a constant companion with us.  Someone we can talk to, someone who will listen to us and someone who will comfort us during the times we feel lonely.  He will always be there whenever you need Him.  Knowing that He is there means that we never need to feel alone again, even during the times when loneliness comes upon us.

Being alone usually means that there is only one person and no-one else.  If you have Jesus in your life, it is you and Him – two people and therefore you can’t be alone.  In other words, you are never alone because He is with us always to the very end of the age.

Luke 21:36 "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
