God is going to put every child of His into the fire of affliction. Why? To test us. You see, the faith that can’t be tested is a faith that can’t be trusted.
I hate to tell you this, but the times when I have grown the most (and the times you will grow the most) have not been when everything has been fine. It’s been when trouble strikes and I have fallen on my face before the Lord and called upon His strength.
Think back on your own life. Most likely, the times you have grown the most are those when you were going through sorrow, pressure, or trouble. Isn’t that true?
Someone penned these lines:
I walked a mile with pleasure,
She chatted all the way,
But left me none the wiser,
For all she had to say.
I walked a mile with sorrow,
And ne’re a word said she.
But oh, the things I learned from her,
When sorrow walked with me.
Romans 8:18 tells us, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
