Jesus said, “Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” (John 4:35b).
No matter how generously you give or how circumspectly you walk, if you are not endeavoring to bring men, women, boys and girls to Jesus Christ, you are not right with God.
I was at the bedside of a godly man who was dying. He looked up at me and said, “Pastor I’m not afraid to die. I’ve given my heart to Jesus. I’ve been twice-born. I’ve been saved. I know that I’m going to heaven.” Then he teared up and he said, “But I’m ashamed to die. I know before long I’m going to meet my Lord and I’ve not been a soul-winner. I’m a respected member of the church and have worked hard. I’m supposed to be a leader of other people, but I’ve not been a soul-winner and now I’m going to meet my Lord.”
Think about it. That is not the way you want to meet Jesus. You want to come with rejoicing as you lay golden grains of souls at the Master’s feet. “He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him” (Psalm 126:6).
