Domination Over Animals
Man is meant to rule. In Psalm 8:5-8, God says,
For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
When Jesus Christ was here on earth, He demonstrated that dominion. Jesus rode a wild donkey into Jerusalem, upon which a man had never sat. I want to see anyone else try that (see Matthew 21:1-11). Jesus had a rooster to crow at the precise moment after Peter had denied Him (see John 18:27).
Jesus had dominion over the fish of the sea. When it was time for Jesus to pay His taxes, He said,
Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. (Matthew 17:27)
How many times have you gone fishing and not caught anything? Man has to some degree lost his dominion, but God gave man dominion over the animals.
